Coventry Pilates Studio staff embrace Yoga as a way of life, with many having spent time living and training overseas including India. Coventry Pilates Studio is unique in that we have a team of Yoga teachers that specialise in authentic yoga disciplines – Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Restorative Yoga, Prenatal and Gentle Yoga – providing you with the opportunity to experience and choose the style of Yoga and teaching that is most suited to you.
Our Pilates Instructors are all qualified and internationally certified with some joining Coventry Pilates Studio after international careers in dance, sports and rehabilitation. All our instructors have been trained in different methods, which include 3 instructors trained by STOTT Pilates and 3 Body Control Pilates instructors and combine a scientific and practical approach with their own creativity in each class.
Gail initially Trained as an Exercise to Music Instructor in 2001 working in most of the Major Health Clubs & Coventry’s Adult Education Service, Gail attended a Pilates class after suffering with lower back pain for some years and immediately noticed a vast improvement in her condition. Coventry’s Adult Education Service offered to pay for her training which she did through Michael King at the Pilates Institute London Then went on to teach 15 Pilates classes per week, for Adult Education, Cannons Health Club, Fitness First, Coventry Sports Centre, along with being Studio Co-ordinator at Virgin Active Health Club in Rugby. Gail then studied with STOTT Pilates and currently studying with Body Control Pilates level 3 Also studying level 4 back care qualification on top of her existing back care course with STOTT Pilates and POLESTAR Pilates. Level 4 is the industry’s highest qualification. Gail takes referrals from the Physiotherapists at the Meriden Private Hospital, Coventry, other Physiotherapists and Chiropractors and currently has six GP’s in her well established classes.
Her education, teaching experience and passion for fitness are now being put to good use in the form of Coventry Pilates Studio and Pilates with Gail

Emily has been in the fitness industry for the last six years. After an unhappy spell as a school teacher, attending classes was a way for Emily to unwind so she decided to move her teaching background from the classroom into the studio. Beginning with exercise to music classes including many of the les mills series, Emily wanted to further her range of abilities and trained to teach Yoga and Pilates. After experiencing how much benefit people gained from standard Yoga and Pilates classes she further gained qualifications to specialise in working with pre and post-natal ladies, children, people suffering with lower back problems and those struggling with obesity and diabetes. This allowed the participants attending classes to get a more personalised session tailored to exactly what they needed to improve and benefit them.
Emily believes that everyone from any background, age or ability can benefit from Pilates and has seen first-hand the improvements it can make for individuals. She currently works with groups, one on one and with children.
Collette took up Pilates in January 2010 on the advice of her spinal consultant, primarily to strengthen her core muscles before a spinal fusion operation that could not be performed until after a long planned trip to South Africa in June 2010.
In a matter of weeks, she felt a remarkable improvement in her back and leg pain to the extent that the operation was avoided and, apart from a routine visit to her chiropractor every 8 weeks, Collette was able to self-manage her condition through Pilates. Thanks to Pilates, she is now stronger and fitter than she has ever been.
Having enjoyed Pilates so much, Collette felt that she wanted to know more and also wanted to pass on the benefits of Pilates to others. As a result, Collette undertook extensive STOTT PILATES training at YMCAFit in Central London in April 2012 and following rigorous practical and theory exams attained the level of certified STOTT PILATES Instructor.
STOTT PILATES is internationally renowned for the quality of its training and STOTT PILATES certified instructors are amongst the most sought after Pilates teachers in the world. They are known as the Ivy League of Pilates Instructors.
I started practicing Yoga whilst at University studying in Dance and Physical Theatre. Yoga helped me with flexibility and strength, giving me the focus needed for a demanding course. Some time later after having my son, I undertook my training to become a Mother and Baby Yoga Instructor. Since then, I have extended my qualifications studying Kids and Family Yoga, Pregnancy and PostNatal Yoga meaning I can support the family right from the beginning. With this extensive knowledge regarding the pregnant mum to be, postnatal exercise and further offering yoga for a young family, clients need be in no doubt that they are in very safe hands.
